We have come a long way
Contipro has reached its position step by step.
First, it focused on nutritional supplements, later on active ingredients for cosmetics,
and today it is primarily dedicated to innovation in pharmaceuticals and biomedicine.
February 1990
The birth of Contipro
Shortly after the Velvet Revolution, six partners entered the biotechnology business, including the company’s current CEO, Associate Professor Vladimír Velebný. They founded “CONnective TIssue PROducts” — Contipro. The company began by producing nutritional supplements using an ordinary kitchen mixer.
July 1998
Pharmaceutical-grade hyaluronan
After years of producing nutritional supplements and supplying hyaluronic acid to cosmetic companies, Contipro entered the pharmaceutical industry and set new visions and goals. The company focused on highly innovative products and the highest purity and quality of production.
November 2000
A veterinary medicine for joints
Bonharen became our first truly successful product. Among veterinarians, its name even became associated with the entire field of joint medicines. Later, Bonharen was followed by a whole portfolio of veterinary products.
January 2004
The human medicine market
In human medicine, Contipro focused on products for wound healing. Hyiodine, which combines hyaluronic acid with an iodine complex, became one of the most effective solutions for treating chronic and complicated wounds.
June 2009
Contipro wins the prestigious investor of the year award
Our project, “Research and Development Centre for Medical Nanobiotechnology”, was recognised by CzechInvest and the Association for Foreign Investment as the investment with the greatest innovation potential in the Czech Republic.
November 2009
Opening of a new research centre
Contipro built a fully equipped European-level research centre at its site in Dolní Dobrouč and began investing even more intensively in its own research. The company attracted the attention of the scientific community and continued to introduce new products on a regular basis.

Entering the field of nanotechnology
Our product portfolio expanded with our own 4SPIN® device for the production of nanofibres, allowing Contipro to produce innovative nanofibrous materials. These materials offer broad potential in biomedical applications such as tissue engineering, wound healing and targeted drug delivery.
May 2015
Launch of a new ultra-pure hyaluronan production line
The modernisation of pharmaceutical hyaluronan production aimed to improve the quality of our products and ensure Contipro’s long-term competitiveness. At the same time, production became more automated and state-of-the-art control mechanisms were introduced.
September 2016
Opening our own primary school
In September 2016, Contipro expanded its educational pyramid with a primary school in nearby Žamberk. In the same town, Contipro also operates a public kindergarten, which had already been running successfully for several years.

Production innovation
We launched a new production line for Sorelex medical devices and began improving existing lines in response to growing customer demand.
September 2019
Further international expansion
On a global scale, we have built a strong position as a high-quality manufacturer and reliable business partner. As a result, our business network continues to grow, and our sales activities now reach more than 80 countries worldwide.
March 2020
Entering the human dietary supplement market
We officially returned to the human dietary supplement market with a new product — Geloren Active. This unique joint nutrition product contains a high amount of hyaluronic acid produced in-house, along with other active ingredients, in the form of fruit-flavoured jelly.
August 2021
New analytical centre
We completed the construction of a new building at our site, where we opened a new analytical centre as part of our research and development facility. This strengthens our capacity for testing and developing new products.
May 2022
We continue to grow
Despite the global and energy crises, we maintained a strong market position and a reputation as a stable employer and business partner. For two consecutive years, we exceeded CZK 2 billion in revenue.
June 2023
Interest in Geloren continues to grow worldwide.
The popularity of Geloren joint nutrition continues to grow, as does customer demand. That is why we launched a new high-capacity production line that allows us to meet this increasing demand. At the same time, we introduced Geloren Active in blackberry flavour.
July 2025
35th Anniversary
Together, we celebrated 35 years since the company was founded. During the same year, we also launched the new Fascigel HA medical device and expanded the Geloren Active food supplement range with a new mango flavour.
