4SPIN: Pre-launch in Czech Republic

4SPIN is a device for preparing nanofibre layers from solutions of synthetic and natural polymers and is capable of generating random and ordered nanofibre layers with different degrees of alignment, even in sterile rooms. The new sophisticated hyaluronan-based substances on offer are ready for stimulating use in the development of new products related, for example, to regenerative medicine, wound healing, the targeted delivery of substances, or the spinning of biopolymers for other specific applications.

This service is aimed primarily at commercial firms with their own development laboratories which need substances meeting requirements for specific applications, and also at academic research centres. The product descriptions include detailed information about the product characteristics, along with instructions on how to work with the materials; the products are also categorized by target application, based on references to scientific sources.

Czech patented technology presented in Japan

A Czech invention shown by laboratory testing to produce ten times more nanofibres than the most common commercially available industrial technology kindled considerable interest at the Nanofibres 2012 symposium in Japan. Contipro Biotech, whose development laboratories produced the patented nozzle, unveiled this technology last week at the Czech-Japanese Science and Technology Days.

In comparative tests with the most common materials, this newly developed multi-nozzle produces between two and thirteen times more fibres. It also enables nanofibres to be obtained even from materials (such as hyaluronic acid), which, though not readily malleable, are highly suited for medical purposes and offer potential in challenging areas of application, including the repair of damaged nerves and muscle regeneration.
